Rightfully so, as each startup has demonstrated rapid year-over-year growth and funding from a myriad of reputable VCs. Vancouver, however, is a burgeoning hub of talent and tech startups. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While you might have heard of some (if not all) the names listed above, there are plenty of promising up-and-coming startups in the city you should get to know. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are six Vancouver startups that should be on your radar, as they\u2019re on the cusp of rapid growth. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><b><a href=\"http:\/\/meetblume.com\">Blume<\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blume.jpg\" alt=\"Blume\" class=\"wp-image-9024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d2re7sjnpekmig.cloudfront.net\/prod\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blume.jpg 480w, https:\/\/d2re7sjnpekmig.cloudfront.net\/prod\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Blume-300x176.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blume is the evolution of Ellebox, a subscription service that helps women deal with period pain. Launched in 2016 by sisters Bunny and Taran Ghatrora, the brand has now rebranded itself as Blume, a puberty-centric line of all natural self-care products intended for girls. Blume products range from tampons and pads to essential oils are all 100% chemical free, 100 percent premium organic cotton, biodegradable, hypoallergenic, BPA free, and FDA approved. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier in April, Blume secured $3.3 million in seed funding, led by Grace Chou and Victoria Treyger, partners at Felicis Ventures, with participation from Victress Capital. Funds will be used to grow their current four-person team, and for more content to further establish the brand\u2019s vision of a safe space for girls to talk about their periods.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Founded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 2018<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Headcount<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 4<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><b><a href=\"https:\/\/klue.com\/\">Klue<\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Klue, founded in 2015 by industry veterans Jason Smith and Sarathy Naicker, is tackling an underserved problem that every company faces: collecting, curating, and distributing competitive intelligence. The platform combines information shared by co-workers with bot-collected intel from across the web into battlecards and competitor activity dashboards.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Website_Gif.gif\" alt=\"Klue\" class=\"wp-image-9023\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two years after Klue was launched, they received a $4 million investment led by OMERS Ventures with participation from BDC Venture Capital, Vancouver Founder Fund, SK Ventures, and angels including Ryan Holmes (CEO, Hootsuite), Jonathan Ehrlich (Partner, Foundation Capital), and Daniel Debow (former SVP Salesforce, CEO Helpful).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2018, Klue won a spot on the coveted Companies to Watch list with the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards. That same year they also received the Startup of the Year and the BC Tech&#8217;s Technology Impact Awards (TIA). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Founded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 2015<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Headcount<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 26<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freshprep.ca\">Fresh Prep<\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fresh Prep is meal kit delivery service that launched in 2015 by Becky Brauer, Dhruv Sood, and Husein Rahemtulla. Since its inception, Fresh Prep has grown its customer base by over 200 percent year over year and now has over 250 employees. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Founded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 2015<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Headcount<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 250<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rivaltech.com\/\">Rival Technologies<\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rival\u2019s founder, Andrew Reid, also founded Vision Critical, the Vancouver-based customer-intelligence firm that raised more than $90 million in venture capital. It looks like he\u2019s got another hit on his hands. Rival Technologies recently launched their flagship product, Chat Lab, an end-to-end insight platform that closes the gap between the way people live their digital lives and how market research is conducted. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rival is growing rapidly, with a list of customers that already includes Jagermeister, the Vancouver Canucks, Warner Bros., and the NFL.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Founded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 2018<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Headcount<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 25<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vessifootwear.ca\/\">Vessi<\/a><\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vessi has created the perfect line of shoes to weather through Vancouver\u2019s many wet days. Founded by Mikaella Go and Tony Yu as a Kickstarter project in November 2018 (their campaign closed with 9,365 backers and $1,260,557 pledged), Vessi has created a vegan, sustainably made, waterproof shoe that \u201cfunctions like a boot, fits like a sock, but looks like a sneaker.\u201d Their fabric technology is patented, which means you won\u2019t be able to find any shoe like theirs in the entire world. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"680\" height=\"383\" src=\"https:\/\/brainstation.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/ea7d4ad17d8570154fe3293f74e7619d_original.gif\" alt=\"Vessi\" class=\"wp-image-9028\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far, it looks like their shoes are a hit. To date, Voleo has raised over $4 million through RTO, and have just publicly listed on the TSX-V under the symbol, TRAD.
