I love Gastown. Vancouver’s most historic neighborhood is still easily one of the most photo-walk friendly places in the city. The neat brick-laid streets, heritage buildings and cool pubs and cafes always bring me back for meetings, or just the beverages. Now there’s a new way to experience it: with QR code integrated history tours for your smart phone.
The Gastown Blog in partnership with the Gastown Business Improvement Society and the Vancouver City Archives is offering a digital history tour outlining the history of neighborhood buildings. Walk by over 20 historic buildings with your IPhone, Blackberry or Android and you get a unique page outlining the history of the structure.
Looking forward to checking this one out this weekend. And I’m hoping this is the start of something bigger. There’s no shortage of heritage in this city. QR codes for Mount Pleasant, please!
