American VCs weigh in on Canada

Next week’s Vancouver Enterprise Forum event promises to shed some light on American venture capitalists take on B.C. and Canadian start-ups. Geoff Entress of Seattle-based Madrona Venture Group and Alex Gove of San Francisco’s Walden Venture Capital will explain the fundamentals they look for when investing up North. Madrona has been active in Canada with an investment in Victoria-based Mixpo in 2006 and their current portfolio includes media darlings Farecast, RedFin, and PayScale. Walden’s digital media line-up includes Internet radio pioneer Pandora (no longer available in Canada) and online TV directory MeeVee.

This VEF networking event includes a light dinner and will be moderated by Jenny Yang of the Business Development Bank of Canada. Look for Vancouver’s top local VCs and entrepreneurs to be in attendance. Doors open at 5:30 pm on Tuesday the 27th with presentations beginning at 6:45 pm.
