AppDirect raises $3.25 Million led by iNovia Capital

At the Under the Radar Conference yesterday in Mountain View, San Francisco’s AppDirect announced a $3.25 million seed round led by iNovia Capital and introduced a new way for businesses to find, buy and use web-based software. And then they went on to take home the Audience Choice for Best in Show Overall and Best SMB Tool at the conference.

The AppDirect “Business Application Network” connects application developers to businesses through a network of branded marketplaces. AppDirect aims to become the central hub for the rapidly growing community of distributors, developers, and users of business applications.

AppDirect is as a free and private network that provides businesses with a single place to subscribe to applications, provision access to their colleagues, and pay just one monthly bill for all of their app subscriptions.

In the case of AppDirect, the Canadian connections don’t end with iNovia Capital leading this financing round. More on this investment from iNovia’s Kevin Swan.

Both of AppDirect’s founders – Daniels Saks and Nicolas Desmarais – are Canadian, their biggest customer to date is Bell Canada (check out the Bell Business Apps Store), and one of their most popular apps – CheckFront – was created by Canadian developers.

No word yet on whether AppDirect will be supporting the San Jose Sharks or the Vancouver Canucks when they meet in the next round of the playoffs. But I’ve confirmed that they’re talking hockey in the office.
