BestBuy brings ‘Free Phone Fridays’ to Canada for February

Best Buy Canada is bringing back its Free Phone Fridays, a month-long weekly deal that debuted last October in the U.S..

The deal is simple: each Friday of the month, one phone per major carrier (Rogers, Telus, and Bell). The phones don’t have to be the same, or even different—but all three carriers will have at least one free phone available during that specific Friday (and for that day only).

And, of course, it should come as no surprise that to get the free phone, consumers must commit to one of the telcos’ lovely three-year contracts.

According to a tipster from MobileSyrup, all three phones this first Friday will be Samsungs:

• Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate through TELUS (currently $149.99 on a 3-year)
• Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant through Bell (currently $149.99 on a 3-year)
• Samsung Galaxy S Captivate through Rogers (currently $99.99 on a 3-year)

But fret not, Samsung haters, as there should be some diversity throughout the month. The U.S. deals included an HTC Aria and a BlackBerry Curve among others—although, for the record, Samsung was the most-used brand for the free phones. (And if you’re expecting something elite like an iPhone or Torch, don’t hold your breath).
