Big Fish Games releases first Vancouver-developed title

Big Fish Games announced today the release of Unwell Mel – the first title to come out of Big Fish Games’ recently opened Vancouver.

“Like all the games that we concept, develop and release, Unwell Mel is an original in its genre. It’s a creative twist on match-three games,” said Pat Wylie, vice president of Big Fish Games Studios. “I’m excited about our Vancouver team; their talent strengthens Studios, and as we grow the team we can ensure the continued production of great games.”

“Unwell Mel is a fast-paced, matching game that charges the player with the diagnosis and treatment of the very unfortunate Mel,” commented Jake Birkett, game designer at Big Fish Games Studios. “We’ve paired the game’s match-three mechanic with an assortment of themed power-ups that give the player a variety of fun and creative ways to cure Mel’s aliments.”

According to the Stephen Hui of the Georgia Straight, Big Fish Games has yet to fill up their Yaletown office across the street from EA’s deserted space and have only four people currently working in an studio originally planned for 25.
