Bootup Labs Starts Something with Entrepreneurship Conference

Boris Mann posts on the Bootup Labs blog to announce Bootup’s first event. The Starting Something conference will happen November 20, 2008, full day.

Today we’re announcing our first conference targeted at founders and “idea stage” startups. One of the missions we feel we need to complete is to “raise the entreprenial IQ” here in Vancouver. Down in Silicon Valley, your downstairs neighbour probably has a drawer full of term sheets, we simply need more exposure to some of these concepts. We want to give a wide range of people some clear “next steps” they can do to keep working on their startup or startup concepts.

The event will feature two tracks of sessions, a pitch competition, and a startup fair. It coincides with Global Entrepreneur Week. Launch Party Vancouver 6 will happen on that same day (and we haven’t even had LPV5 yet, next Thurs, Sept 18). They’re running a survey, accepting input on what session topics folks would be more interested in. Venue is TBD (downtown Vancouver, naturally), and pricing will be competitively in the $50 – $75 range.

Just this week we’ve written about the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Boot Camp in Calgary and Entrepreneur Week in Waterloo. Education on basics of starting up startups seems to be in high demand, hopefully this all results in some great startups coming down the pipeline.

No signups yet, but you can express interest on Upcoming.
