Canadian Startup Helps World Cup Fans get to their Next Match by Bus

Montreal’s Busbud announced today the launch of the Brazil Bus Finder, a microsite dedicated to help soccer fans easily book their bus trips between the twelve Brazilian cities part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup circuit., the leading worldwide bus travel booking site, allows travelers to book tickets for tens of thousands of bus routes everywhere in Brazil.

Busbud’s Brazil Bus Finder allows visitors to filter bus routes and schedules by team or city, and book bus tickets for various companies online, directly on Routes will be updated continuously based on the evolving World Cup match results.

An estimated 3.7 million people are expected to travel throughout Brazil between June 12th and July 13th, including 600,000 travellers from foreign countries. In Brazil, buses are the main mode of long-distance transportation: they are clean, comfortable, run on time, and the main routes — between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, for example — are typically served many times a day.

“The Brazilian long-distance bus network is very well developed, yet finding the right bus online is often cumbersome, especially for international travellers,” says LP Maurice, Busbud CEO and co-founder, who developed the business idea while backpacking across Brazil and other South American destinations in 2011. “We want to help travellers and football fans get around and follow their teams while saving them time and stress — and an extra trip to the bus station.”
