Business and Technology Come Together with Enterprize Canada

Renowned as one of Canada’s largest student-run entrepreneurial conferences and business plan competitions, Enterprize Canada provides a glimpse into the future of Canadian innovation and growth. 450 delegates, competitors, community leaders, and entrepreneurs from across Canada are provided with a platform to transform their visions into reality in this two-part event held in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Over the course of its seven year history, Enterprize had jump-started numerous business ideas, from such companies as PeerFX, an online currency exchange featured on CBC’s Dragon’s Den, to Energy Aware, a company focused on “demand management solutions for today’s changing electrical grid”.

Energy Aware Technology was an idea that started as a class project at UBC, and Enterprize was the first business plan competition we entered. It truly inspired us to think outside of the classroom and having gone through the process, it encouraged us to seriously consider entrepreneurship as an option after graduation. This competition provided us with our first external affirmation that we were providing something of value with the capability to be monetized, and for those intending to get out there and actually act on their business ideas, Enterprize is a great launch pad and supportive conduit to getting started. – Janice Cheam, Energy Aware Technology Inc., Winner, Enterprize 2005

A select number of speakers and workshops will be dedicated to providing tech-savvy students with a supply of entrepreneurial skills as part of Enterprize’s commitment to extend the conference to different faculties. This year, Enterprize expands its horizon by reaching out to those who are specializing in applied and computer sciences. In today’s marketplace, demand for those who are technologically competent is high, and therefore, those who are able can become entrepreneurs by creating their own business. With both the Engineering and Sciences faculties on board as Academic Partners at UBC, as well as the local Vancouver business community, Enterprize will educate and inspire creative minds.
