Calagator bites into Portland’s tech calendar

With only four Saturday codefests under its belt, Calagator, the Portland tech calendar aggregator project, is showing remarkable progress and getting ever closer to answering the question, “What’s happening in the Portland tech scene?”

The Calagator project is a volunteer-driven effort designed to do three things:

  1. Create a master calendar of tech events in Portland, OR.
  2. Make it really easy for all the event schedulers to opt into the aggregation service.
  3. Get the juicy details of what’s actually going to happen at each event in the same place.

In short, Calagator is designed to solve a number of problems that we in the Portland tech community have been experiencing due to event overload. And, if everything works out, Calagator will soon be helping event planners better understand “what’s happening when” so as not to schedule conflicting events.

Given that Calagator is entirely volunteer driven, the next appropriate question is “How can I help?”

The Portland tech community can help us by testing out Calagator, importing calendar data from your organizations, Upcoming, and other websites, and reporting any problems on our issues tracker. We’d also like to know how you want to use this application once it’s done. Those use cases will help us decide which features to focus on.
