Calgary lunch and learn – Tech PR 101

Sometimes, it’s hard to get your story out into the world. When you are an entrepreneur, you’re often too busy to stop and think about sitting down to write a press release. If you do have time, it is almost impossible to write about your own company in a way that isn’t overly technical, or seems like you haven’t said the same thing 500 times already.

To get some tips on the basics of Tech PR, why not come out to CTI’s lunch and learn series? On May 5th and 12th, Arleigh Gallant Vasconcellos, from The Agency PR, has organized two panels on Tech PR. The first week, you’ll learn the basics on how to approach journalists and bloggers. The second week, you’ll learn about some successful campaigns from companies right here in Calgary.

Tech PR 101 – How to engage with the media

  • This interactive session is geared for start-ups and tech organizations who do not currently use PR as part of their business model. Over the lunch hour we will cover some basic media relations and PR principals. Journalists from the Calgary Herald, New Technology, and Mike Morrison a leading Canadian blogger will be participating. This session is interactive and audience questions and participation are encouraged.

Tech PR 102 – Successful PR campaigns: Case studies

  • Again this is an interactive session for start-ups and tech organizations who are not well versed in PR and running PR campaigns. We will kick-off this session with a quick over view about the various types of PR campaigns and communications tools available. The guest speakers in this session come from former start-up companies including Wmode, Poynt and SMART Technologies. Each speaker will walk participants through a case study on how they successfully used PR techniques to grow their organizations reputation and brand awareness. This session is interactive and audience questions and participation are encouraged.
