Canadian Bitcoin Bank Shuts Down After Hackers Steal $600,000 Worth of Digital Currency

A major theft at a Canadian bitcoin bank is forced the institution to permanently close its doors.

Flexcoin, based in Edmonton, has shut down after losing roughly $600,000 worth of bitcoins to a hacker attack.

Flexcoin lost 896 bitcoins and stated afterward that it “does not have the resources, assets, or otherwise to come back from this loss.”

The shutdown follows the globally popular Mt. Gox bitcoin exchange’s filing for bankruptcy one week ago after losing half a billion dollars worth of the digital currency.
