Canadian Government Website Cyberattacked, Allegedy Over Bill C-51

Yesterday a cyberattack crippled federal government websites and email for two hours.

The attack was allegedly performed by hacker group Anonymous, who cited the much-maligned passage of C-51 as the reason for the attack.

Last year Chinese hackers broke into National Research Council computers, which prompted the Harper government to announce $58 million in 2015 to improve guard against future cyberattacks.

The government says it is analyzing this most recent hack and taking precautions to prevent similar attacks in the future.
