Canadian marketers go head-to-head at SxSW

The Maple Leaf Digital Lounge will be doing more than just promoting Canadian companies at South by Southwest Interactive this year. They’ll be hosting a 40 Hour Challenge, which will pit three teams of Canadian marketing types against each other to see who is the best at building buzz.

All teams will be trying to solve the same problem for the same company. Possible challenges include building an app and posting it on a website, with the winner being the team whose app is downloaded the most; or perhaps building a website for a company, and the website with the most traffic being declared the winner. Judging will be provided by a panel of Silicon Valley executives.

The challenge will begin on March 11th, and conclude on the 13th. The exact subject matter and contest criteria will be disclosed on the 11th. There are only 18 spots open for this contest, so you’ll want to apply right away. The successful applicants will be notified on February 28th.

There is a $20 entry fee for this contest, which will go towards the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS), a charity that provides support to members of Canada’s communications sector who are experiencing hardships, professional or otherwise.
