Canpages New iPhone App Finds Places Near You

Yesterday Canpages released an iPhone app called ‘My Nearest‘ that helps Canadians find local businesses near them. The app uses the iPhone’s GPS and a one-touch interface to help users to instantly find the Starbucks, Tim Horton’s, gas station, ATM, or whatever it is they are looking for closest to them.

The app is free to download and comes pre-loaded with 30 of the most commonly searched business categories or users can add their own. The search results are populated by Canpages’ complete national database of Canada’s more than 1 million business listings.

Vancouver’s CanPages has been on a huge roll in 2009 – they launched a voice-activated iPhone app in March, acquired ZipLocal in July, and then acquired GigPark last month.

I tested My Nearest and it found businesses near me that weren’t even located in Google Maps. I was definitely impressed with this app and will be keeping it on my iPhone for the future. No longer will I need to use Grande Getter for McFinder or TimmyMe when I’m out and about! X1Zero also tested this app while he was out and he gave it a 5 out of 5.
