Clean Tech Open comes to Pacific Northwest

Clean Tech Open is an organization of leading entrepreneurs, academics, investors and companies, working together to accelerate the development of clean technology startups. They provide resources, education and support for clean tech entrepreneurs including an annual Business Competition.

To date the Clean Tech Open competition has been open to only companies from California but this year they have expanded to include categories for the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions.

Any inventor, technologist or clean tech enthusiastic with a great clean tech idea is invited to submit a three-page Executive Summary by May 30th. There are six competition categories in California and one general category in the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions.

From the first round, a group of Semifinalist teams will be selected to continue in the competition, where these teams will participate in the Clean Tech Accelerator and receive additional mentoring and sustainability training. Semifinalists will pitch their business plans and presentations to a panel of judges. There will be six Finalists from California and three Finalist from the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions. The Finalists will then participate in the national competition, where one winner will receive the national prize package.

Finalists and Winners receive a “Startup-in-a-Box” package of cash and services, donated by high-profile sponsors. Packages include: cash, office space, legal services, accounting, insurance, public relations, recruiting, software, and other business essentials. In just three years, the Clean Tech Open has awarded over $2.72 million worth of prizes.

From the past three years, 84% of the Clean Tech Open’s Alumni are still viable businesses and have secured more than $125 million in funding. Impressive.
