Next month the BC Innovation Council (BCIC) will be hosting Connect ’09, their premier event for technology start-ups and innovators. While the BCIC may have lucked out by securing NowPublic’s Leonard Brody for the keynote presentation before his company was acquired for $25 Million, the event promises to provide invaluable access to top-tier BC business leaders through their expert panel sessions.
The panel sessions take place in advance of the keynote, awards, and networking and attendees have four panels to choose from:
- The Design Imperative – Optimizing commercialization through product design
- Get Fundable – Access to capital in the current economic climate
- The Accelerator Factor – Case studies on the benefits and value of accelerators
- Friends in High Places – Leveraging partnerships to accelerate growth
The Design Imperative will feature some of Canada’s brightest industry experts in industrial and user interface design and you’ll leave committed to user experience early in the product design process. Ryan Holmes of Invoke Media (Creators of Twitter client Hootsuite), Nigel Stoodley of SAP BusinessObjects, and Chris Wheeler of Unique:ID, Steve Woodside of Stemcell Technologies will be moderated by the Okanagan Science and Technology Council’s Douglas MacLeod.
In Get Fundable, local Angel Basil Peters, Yaletown Venture Partners‘ Mike Satterfield, and Tagga CEO Amielle Lake will sit down with moderator Mike Volker to deliver an update on the current status of early stage fundraising.
In The Accelerator Factor, Martin Yuill of the Okanagan Research & Innovation Centre and Danny Robinson of Bootp Labs will share how their business accelerators work and attendees will hear firsthand from two of their recent accelerator graduate companies – Sharon Barnes of ORIC’s RFind and James Sherrett of Bootup Labs’ AdHack.
Friends in High Places promises to teach you how to partner with companies that have firmly established sales channels. Learn firsthand how early-stage companies are getting the job done with thriving global partnerships. Andrew Carryer of MDA, Moe Kermani of Bycast, Bijan Sanii of INETCO, and Dimitri Sirota of Layer 7 Technologies will be moderated by Jim Mutter.
Tickets for Connect ’09 are only $50 which includes a dinner buffet – so register now and pick your panel before it’s sold-out.
