DoGooder nominated for SXSW Technical Achievement award

Ottawa-developed browser extension DoGooder has been nominated for a South by Southwest Web Award in the Technical Achievement category.

DoGooder is a browser extension for Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari that, rather than block ads like most ad-blocking extensions, instead replaces generic ads with advertising that supports good causes.

Half the profits earned by DoGood HQ are donated to charity.

The major award nomination follows DoGood HQ winning three awards from the Explorium Bootstrap Awards

However, DoGooder does face some tough competition as they’re going up against “computational knowledge engine” Wolfram Alpha, among others.

The awards ceremony will be held March 14th in Austin, Texas.
