Vancouver’s Exploding Barrel Games has been acquired by San Francisco free-to-play game company Kabam for an undisclosed sum.
Exploding Barrel Games is a 35-person gaming startup that recently worked on Margaritaville – a critically acclaimed Facebook game published by THQ.
Exploding Barrel Games has already collaborated on one unreleased title with Kabam.
Exploding Barrel Games was founded in 2009 by a group of Vancouver gaming industry vets with the intention of focusing at first on triple-A console games and platforms such as Xbox Live.
The studio switched its focus to digital platforms such as Facebook and has had great success bringing together the best & most driven talent from Vancouver and beyond.
Their core leadership team has a proven track record in shepherding a wide range of entertainment properties from inception to delivery, and have collectively worked on over 40 titles across 9 platforms, spanning 4 generations of hardware and multiple genres.
