The organizers of BarCamp Vancouver 2008 have sent out a final update with details on this weekend’s event and festivities.
It all gets underway with a party on Friday, September 26th at 7:00pm at WorkSpace at 21 Water Street in Gastown – food & drink will be served.
WorkSpace also has wifi, multiple rooms, and in general places to kick off the “camp” early. We’ll be suggesting that people move on from WorkSpace to another venue when the evening gets late, so people can hack on personal projects or join forces around whatever moves them.
The full-day unconference gets underway the following day on Saturday, September 27th at 9:30am at the Arts Club Revue Stage on Granville Island.
Technically speaking, BarCampVancouver2008 is free. However, we’ve got plenty of expenses to cover. To make this and future Barcamps a reality, we’re asking for a suggested $20 donation from each attendee. That includes a lovely BarCamp Vancouver t-shirt.
As is traditional with BarCamp, we’ll begin the day at 10:00am with a ‘scheduling jam’ at the Arts Club Revue Theatre. Speakers will have 30 seconds to pitch their sessions, and we’ll lay out the days events. There’s a nascent list of topics on the Barcamp Vancouver page and here’s the working schedule for the day.
Google Map links to each venue and more information is available here. BarCamp participants can sign-in at either WorkSpace on Friday night or the Arts Club Revue Stage.
