Online shopping continues to evolve and grow, but one thing remains the same: free shipping is everything.
Free shipping continues to be the top reason 83% of consumers say they would shop more online, according to Walker Sands’ 2015 Future of Retail Study. Free returns are also important, especially on big-ticket items: three times as many consumers (27% vs. 10%) would purchase a product online costing more than $1,000 without seeing it first if returns were free.
“Free shipping is more important than fast shipping and could incentivize consumers to shop online for products they do not traditionally buy online, such as groceries and luxury goods,” the report reads.
68 percent of North American consumers shop online at least once per month, up from 62 percent a year ago, and 28 percent make web purchases at least once a week, according to the data.
