FreshBooks Marketing hits the Road

It’s been a big week for Toronto’s invoicing and time-tracking upstart FreshBooks. Earlier this week they upgraded to version 4.3, adding an Expense Tracking feature, and today their RoadBurn Tour hit the road. FreshBooks is attending the Future of Web Apps Conference in Miami this week and then renting an RV to make their way to Austin for South by Southwest on March 7th. Why? To meet as many FreshBooks users as they can and spread the FreshBooks gospel. They’ll be blogging about their adventures as they take customers out for breakfast, lunch and dinner in different cities every day. FreshBooks CEO Mike McDerment spoke last night at Third Tuesday in Toronto on Public Relations in a Web 2.0 world and Dave Fleet did a great job summarizing his talk. Being creative to find new opportunities to promote your brand was a key take-away for Fleet and the RoadBurn tour is an excellent example.

Overall, these guys really impressed me. They’re out there, trying all the online tools they can to communicate with their customers and rewarding them for their loyalty.
