Google Maps Reveals Canadians’ Favourite Summer Destinations

Google used search queries from its Maps product to determine the most popular summer destinations for Canadians a host of other countries in 2012.

In Canada, Niagra Falls was the most searched landmark, followed by Wasaga Beach and Downsview Park. Other popular destinations included the Pacific National Exhibition (more commonly referred to as the PNE), Centennial Park, and Cherry Beach. Calgary was the only major city to be listed in the top 10.

Outside of cities and landmarks, Canadians searched the most for beaches. Other popular searches in this category included camping sites, marinas, and hotels. Interestingly, paintball scored nowhere in the top 10 for Canadians but was the number one ranking in America (whose rather comical map below shows the incredible lack of interest in the middle 90% of the nation).
