Government of Canada invests $53 Million in Green Startups

The Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) foundation announced this CDN $53 Million in grants to 16 clean technology companies from across the country. The grants were made to companies ranging from power generation to agriculture and waste management, projects that “have great potential and they can really make a difference to the lives of Canadians,” said SDTC Chairman Juergen Puetter.

Among the companies 16 CleanTech companies receiving grants are Vancouver’s dPoint Technologies, General Fusion, and Nexterra Energy. These new investments bring SDTC’s total portfolio value to over $1.3 billion.

SDTC is an arm’s-length foundation which has received $1.05 billion from the Government of Canada. It operates two funds aimed at the development and demonstration of innovative technological solutions.
