While @Canada is new, it’s not like the Canadian government hasn’t been actively using Twitter for years. Prime Minister Stephen Harper joined all the way back in 2007, and the government website suggests there are more than 160 different social media accounts in total, for everything from the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
