GrowLab Names Second Entrepreneur-in-Residence

GrowLab announced last week that Mark Relph had joined the Vancouver accelerator as their first Entrepreneur-in-Residence. At the time they alluded that they would be adding more EiRs to the roster and this morning they did just that.

Serial entrepreneur Jonathan Bixby joins Relph as GrowLab’s second EiR. With a proven track record of building and selling companies, Bixby is coming off of the recent sale of Strangeloop to Radware.

Strangeloop was cofounded by twins Jonathan and Joshua Bixby in 2006 and went on to raise over $20 million in venture capital. The Bixby brothers previously cofounded IronPoint Technology, which was acquired by The Active Network in 2006.

So Bixby clearly has intimate and timely knowledge of building and selling tech companies that will prove invaluable to the GrowLab teams. Bixby shares, “I am honored to join GrowLab as an EiR.  Being a part of one of Canada’s elite accelerators and working with great companies with a lot of potential is very exciting.”

According to GrowLab Executive Director Mike Edwards, GrowLab strives to continuously add value to its current cohort and its growing portfolio and the best way to do this is to provide more access to experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders with deep networks.

Edwards expands, “GrowLab is always hunting for talent, whether that be for teams to join our cohort or the individuals that can add value to our teams. We are extremely excited to welcome two top industry veterans who both bring a unique perspective and experience to our teams.”

GrowLab’s inaugural EiRs have both had robust careers in the tech world and are passionate about giving back and providing value to help develop the next generation of high growth companies.

GrowLab EiRs will have a regular presence at the GrowLab office and will work with their current cohort as well as their alumni.
