Original political thriller “House of Cards” has become the most-watched content on Netflix in Canada.
According to chief content officer Ted Sarandos speaking at the Dive Into Media conference today, “House of Cards” has been the most-watched piece of content on the site across all regions the company operates in since it launched on February 1, including Canada and its home market in the US.
The show isn’t any different than what you will find on traditional television except for two things: no commercials and every episode is immedately available. Sarandos says Netflix is “crafting long-form storytelling to be told any way you want to watch it” – no waiting a week between episodes.
Netflix won’t spill the beans on hard numbers surrounding the show, but did say that pretty much everyone who watched epsiode one moved on to episode two. “House of Cards” show has earned a rating of 4.6 out of five stars after thousands of reviews from users, which is extremely high by Netflix viewer standards.
