How MetroLeap Media turned song lyrics into success

How many times have you searched online for lyrics to a song? Odds are, plenty of times. And you’re not alone. Vancouver company Metroleap Media has turned searching for lyrics into a business that achieves 40 million unique hits through websites, widgets and mobile applications, for over 100 million hits monthly.

So how did they get to where they are today? The Vancouver Enterprise Forum will be helping them tell their tale during “An Evening with Alan Juristovski and Milun Tesovic, Founders Of MetroLeap Media,” on Tuesday, January 25th.

Juristovski and Tesovic will tell the story of how they built up the fifth largest music website on the web after founding the company in 2002. The two Simon Fraser graduates saw that while searches for lyrics were phenomenally popular on the Internet, there dearth of quality websites to find them on. Tesovic wrote a script that would become MetroLyrics, the backbone of Metroleap and the most popular lyrics website on the Internet.

Juristovski and Tesovic will be telling their story at the Vancouver Enterprise Forum on January 25th from 5:30–8 p.m. As well, attendees with start-ups of their own are invited to apply for one of five 100 second lightning pitch spaces to pitch their companies to the VEF audience.
