ICE 2008 begins in Toronto

The third annual “Interactive Content Exchange” (ICE 2008) began in Toronto on Wednesday evening at the historic Carlu. Over the next couple of days, over 400+ entrepreneurs, producers, developers and executives from a variety of sectors will be converging at this conference to share ideas on interactive media.

The opening keynote address was delivered by Alan Gershenfeld of E-Line Ventures, who spoke about the need to invest in companies whose business growth is strongly linked to their positive social impact. One of his initiatives in social entrepreneurship is the Fab Fund, which funds the invention and manufacturing of personal fabrication devices. Imagine being able to “create” a device at home just like you print paper !

The next couple of days seem to be quite exciting as well, with some of the scheduled events including: Product showcase; Discussion on new Canadian media; Models for Canadian collaboration; Mobile games; Democamp @ ICE; Leveraging the power of networks; Financing creative content; Interview with the developer of the popular Facebook app Scrabulous, among others. Techvibes is there and will be covering the entire conference.
