Intel Appoints Graham Palmer as Canada Country Manager

Intel has appointed Graham Palmer as Canada Country Manager.

Palmer, who holds a BSc in Computer Studies from Sheffield, brings 25 years of experience with Intel to his new role, including his previous position as country manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland’s. Intel says he will be accountable for revenue, spending, strategic initiatives, brand, marketing and sales development for Intel across Canada.

His industry acumen, leadership skills, and proven track record uniquely position him for this critical assignment,” saysCJ Bruno, Intel Vice President, GM of Intel Americas.  “His diverse industry expertise, results-oriented approach, and keen insights from his success as our UK&I country manager will serve us, our customers and industry partners well as he defines the strategy for Intel in the Canadian market.”

“I’m thrilled to be here in Canada and eager to lead this holistic new mandate for Canada that will see all sales and marketing disciplines managed from one central point,” says Palmer. “My first priority is working closely with Intel Canada employees, partners and customers to assess opportunities and develop the roadmap for Intel in Canada moving forward.”

Another recent appointment of a similar position came when CBC vice president Kirstine Stewart left the public broadcaster to head up the currently-being-created Twitter Canada.

Confirmed earlier this week by Adam Bain of Twitter in—what else?—a tweet, Stewart will assume the role of managing director of Twitter Canada and will be responsible for hiring a Canadian team and securing an office in Toronto over the summer. Stewart joined CBC in 2006 and was named executive vice-president of CBC English Services last August.

Twitter says that Canadian usage of the microblogging platform is already significant, so Twitter Canada isn’t really about getting us to use the social network. Rather, it’s about strengthening relationships with brands advertising on Twitter and forging strategic partnerships. Reinforcing that notion is the fact that Twitter has posted two positions for its to-be-determined office and they’re both advertising-oriented: Account Executive and Account Manager.

Regardless of the reasons behind Twitter Canada’s impending launch, it’s great news for our nation (and not so great news for the CBC, who has taken a pretty major hit with her loss).
