LaBarge Weinstein to Open Vancouver Office, Mark Longo to Join as Partner

Vancouver’s GROW Week in underway and, not surprisingly, there is some well-timed news coming out of the Canadian tech community to take advantage of the buzz.

Techvibes has learned that later this morning Ottawa’s LaBarge Weinstein will announce that it is expanding West and opening an office in Vancouver. The firm’s new location will be officially up and running on September 4th and led by industry veteran Mark Longo, formerly of Clark Wilson.

“We’re very excited to build on our growing practice in western Canada,” said co-founding partner Debbie Weinstein.

“The BC technology market is strong and is gaining momentum. Although we’ve been serving clients in the region for years, we thought our 15th anniversary marked the perfect time to make our presence permanent.”

Since its formation in 1997, LaBarge Weinstein has become a leading player within the Canadian technology industry. In addition to assisting companies and investors in closing hundreds of millions of dollars in financing transactions over the last two years, LaBarge Weinstein has acted for vendors and purchasers on more than $2 billion in technology M&A deals during that period, including PostRank’s sale to Google, Radian6’s sale to, Protus’ sale to J2 Global, and Tungle’s sale to RIM.

Longo has worked in corporate finance, M&A, and technology law for 20 years. During his career, he has served in General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and senior executive capacities for a number of private and publicly traded technology companies, including Intrinsyc Software, Datawire Communication Networks, and Star Data Systems.

“The excitement in the Vancouver tech sector is palpable and we believe that LW’s style of practice is well suited to meet the needs of these young and growing companies,” added Paul LaBarge, co-founding partner.
