Lookout Ticketmaster, Ticketfly is Coming to Canada

Ticketmaster may soon have some serious competition in Canada. Ticketfly announced yesterday that it’s expanding North of the border.

The San Francisco-based company has reached deals with national event promoter Union Events and Toronto-based Collective Concerts to sell tickets online. The company has also acquired Calgary-based ticketing company Prime Box Office as part of its expansion.

Ticketfly is an integrated ticketing and marketing platform for event promoters and venues of any size. Ticketfly plans to charge lower fees than Ticketmaster for online purchases and will encourage e-ticketing via Apple’s Passbook format.

Ticketfly also announced today that they are committed to bringing on strong and experienced local talent to drive operations in Canada. The company has hired industry veteran Bruce Morrison, former head of ticket sales at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts and former director of operations for Ticketmaster Canada, as the general manager for Ticketfly Canada.

The San Francisco Business Times recently named Ticketfly the fastest-growing technology company in the Bay Area, based on revenue growth.
