Have you seen the Microsoft buses scooting around downtown Vancouver? Well, it turns out that most of the unmarried and carless developers from around the world (check out the video below) that were hired for the Microsoft Canada Development Center in Richmond would prefer to live downtown where the action is.
Not a big surprise.
The reverse commute to Richmond ain’t easy, so in typical Microsoft employee-pleasing fashion they’ve started they own staff-only bus service to ferry developers from downtown out to Richmond. Word is this may change very soon as Microsoft is contemplating a move to combine their downtown and Richmond offices into one location… downtown.
The Microsoft Canada Development Centre opened in late 2007 and operates as one of a handful of development centres outside the company’s Redmond headquarters.
