Microsoft Unveils Surface 3, Opens Preorders in Canada

Microsoft has launched the third generation of its Surface tablet.

The tablet, which Microsoft again claims can fully replace your laptop, features a quad-core processor, a 10.8-inch touchscreen, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

“Surface 3 brings what customers love about Surface Pro 3 to more people, delivering the premium design and productivity of Surface in a more affordable device,” said Panos Panay, corporate vice president, Microsoft Surface.

Surface 3 ships with Windows 8.1 and can be upgraded to Windows 10 for free when it becomes available.

“We’ve taken everything we learned making Surface Pro 3 and poured that innovation into this newest Surface,” says Panay.

Surface 3 is available to preorder in Canada today. It goes on sale in Canada on May 5. It starts at $639.

“It’s beautiful, versatile, powerful and productive, and our customers are going to love what it lets them do,” Panay concludes of the Surface 3.
