There are many ways to say I love you when you’re going digital. And linking is definitely one of the top ways to do it. I came across this post about the Technorati Attention Index and thought I’d spread the love around. The list is the first in what will become a regular appearance showcasing the mainstream media sites that have the highest number of bloggers linking to them.
Linking is arguably the truest measure of a blog’s influence, and more importantly, in a world without filters or controls, linking is the control. The blogosphere is defined by Widipedia as the collective community of all blogs. Since all blogs are on the Internet by definition, they may be seen as interconnected and socially networked. If you publish information that is unprofessional or untrue, other bloggers won’t link to you and you’re out of the ecosystem. For this reason, Technorati Authority is determined by the number of blogs linking to your blog. The more links, the higher your authority.
The top five mainstream media sites having the most blogs linking to them in the last 30 days are:
- New York Times
- BBC News
