After a minor delay and 178 applicants later, New Ventures BC has announced the companies that have been selected to move forward to Round 2 of the NVBC competition. The list is varied and the submissions broke down by these type of businesses:
- CleanTech: 17.0%
- Life Sciences: 6.3%
- IT: 20.5%
- New Media / Internet: 39.2%
- Other: 13.6%
See the full list of Round 2 companies on the blog. May 27th is the next cut date. Only 30 companies will advance to that stage.
A “new venture” is a business idea that is economically viable, but has not yet secured significant financing from “outside investors” (ie. investors other than friends, family, and company founders). It must be an innovative product or service involving a new technology.
