nextMEDIA 2010 announces Keynote lineup

Since its inception in 2007, nextMEDIA Toronto has set the standard for digital media events in Canada. This year, nextMEDIA takes place on November 29th adn 30th and has expanded to include all areas of the entertainment industry most affected by the changing digital ecosystem, including television, advertising, mobile, gaming, publishing and music.

Featuring briefings, competitions and social events for executives working in media, the conference also includes the Canadian New Media Awards (CNMAs) on the evening of December 1st. Canada’s only digital media awards, the CNMAs spotlight the talents and successes of the country’s interactive media industry.

This year’s keynote speakers reflect nextMEDIA’s expansion into ALL of entertainment:

  • Michael Wolff, author, essayist, contributing editor for WIRED, columnist for Vanity Fair, and founder of speaking on “The Web is Dead”
  • Christopher Kaskie, publisher & COO of Pitchfork – the essential guide to independent music and beyond
  • Peter Totorici, CEO of Group M Entertainment Worldwide and branded entertainment expert
  • Fred Santarpia, general manager of VEVO, the world’s number one online premium music video service

Discussions cover a wide range of topics, including: the new consumer behaviour; producers’ and broadcasters’ response to digital channels and shifting consumption patterns; direction and production of interactive programming and content; broadcast interactive environments; and online music publishing.
