No More Card Confusion: Square Now Lets You Open Running Bar Tabs

Square has added its Open Tickets feature to its Register service in Canada.

Open tabs usually translate into higher sales, which usually translates into higher tips—but managing open tabs can be a headache. With Square, there’s more holding cards behind the bar all night or tallying up the number of drinks ordered.

With an open a ticket in Square Register, you can swipe the customer’s card and give it right back. The ticket stays open and can be added to and modified as necessary.

This September, the Alma Mater Society (AMS), which represents all students at UBC, will begin using Square. AMS President Aaron Bailey explained that the partnership aligns with the AMS’ vision to improve the quality of the educational, social, and personal lives of the students of UBC.

Earlier this year Square acquired a Toronto startup to bolster its Canadian foothold.
