OneLobby Raises $500K and Pivots in Event Space

This past July Techvibes reported that Brian Dunphy—the first employee of Radian6, the startup that sold for $326 million to Salesforce last year—has joined Fredericton-based conference support company OneLobby.

Today Entrevestor reported that OneLobby has closed its $500,000 seed round and pivoted to become an event management application.

OneLobby began the year with the plan to develop a social network for conference attendees. But they quickly realized there was a problem with their business model.

OneLobby was trying to solve the pain of conference attendees but they were asking conference organizers to pay for it. To get real traction, they felt they had to solve the pain of the people who were paying for the service—the event organizers. So they pivoted to meet the needs of conference organizers instead.

CEO Jordan Smith told Entrevestor, “We’re now focused on event management. We’ll still do the event networking, but it’s no longer the same focus.” The new focus will be a collaborative Software-as-a-Service solution that will help conference providers organize and manage events, so they can contact suppliers, book speakers, etc.
