Waterloo’s Miovision Wins Ontario Business Achievement Award

Last night Waterloo’s Miovision Technologies was selected for the 2012 Ontario Business Achievement Awards in the Small Business Category.

The provider of intelligent traffic data management solutions was one of three finalists in the category, having been selected from hundreds of nominees. This award honours small businesses (under 100 employees) that demonstrate a progressive attitude and approach to their sales and new market development, company culture, environmental stewardship and corporate citizenship.

CEO Kurtis McBride was in attendance at the Awards Gala to accept the award on behalf of Miovision. “I am honoured to accept this award from the OBAA on behalf of Miovision. Receiving recognition in the small business category is a great achievement,” he said. “We started out as three recent university grads in a basement with a dream. Now we have grown to over 80 employees with an international office and are looking forward to expanding even further.”

Since 2005, Miovision grown from a startup of just three university graduates to an international company serving 350 customers in 27 countries spanning five continents. And they continue to grow with three Software Developer openings on the Techvibes Job Board

Miovision’s automated traffic data collection technology uses video to capture data about traffic volume, vehicle movements, roundabout counts, etc. This data is helping cities and municipalities across the globe to measure, manage and fix traffic problems such as congestion, long travel times, carbon emissions and road safety.
