Waterloo’s Open Text announced yesterday that they plan to launch Open Text Everywhere – a new technology which will allow users of the company’s Enterprise Content Management software to access their archives and files through a BlackBerry device.
“We call them ‘smartphones’ but the fact is they can take over the role of laptops,” said Eugene Roman, Chief Technology Officer at Open Text. “The power of smartphones is only growing and they offer an entirely new platform to extend the productivity of workers in ways we never imagined just a few years ago.”
Open Text Everywhere will provide its users with a mobile gateway to their business documents, archives and reports. Like other business software applications, Open Text’s software will allow users to open and edit documents over the secure connections offered via RIM Blackberry devices.
Open Text already has an iPhone application but this will be its first BlackBerry app.
