Since the City of Ottawa passed the motion to adopt an “open data policy,” and local hackers have been, well, hacking away at the data, the collection of applications for Ottawa residents has been growing.
There have been several new additions to the Open Data Apps Directory, like Ottawa Recycles: an iPhone app that tells users where to bring specific items for recycling.
Apps to find libraries and parks have also appeared.
For anyone looking to join in and try playing with Ottawa’s open data, there’s also the Ottawa.ca Data Explorer, a work-in-progress site that provides users with a way to browser the data sets that have been released by the City of Ottawa so far.
It would appear that this is only the beginning.
