PhoneGap chosen for Web 2.0 Expo’s LaunchPad

Vancouver’s own Nitobi and their PhoneGap project has been chosen as one of five projects presenting at Web 2.0 Expo’s LaunchPad event in San Francisco next week.

PhoneGap is an open-source development framework that enables developers to build mobile apps for iPhone, Android and Blackberry using just Javascript and HTML (instead of Objective-C et al). Practically speaking, this radically lowers the barrier to entry for people to build mobile apps. To date, developers have built dozens of apps using PhoneGap.

Techvibes covered PhoneGap back in October when they won the approval of the audience at Ideas on Tap in Vancouver – hopefully that success will translate into more in San Francisco.
