Samsung Receives 9 Million Preorders for Galaxy S3 Smartphone

Samsung has received an astonishing nine million preorders for the Galaxy S3, according to a report from the Korea Economic Daily this morning.

The third-generation smartphone will launch across more than 100 global carriers, starting in Germany on May 29 before rolling out to North America and other regions of the world in June.

The newspaper, which cites an unidentified Samsung official, says the company’s factory in South Korea is running at its maximum capacity of five million units per month.

In the first quarter of this year, Samsung topped Apple as the world’s biggest smartphone maker, driven primarily by the Galaxy S1 and S2.
