Canadian Startup SendtoNews Signs Deal with NFL as Season Starts

Victoria technology firm SendtoNews has signed a multi-year agreement with the National Football League to provide content to media platforms across Canada, including the National Post.

The agreement allows the Canadian startup to distribute NFL highlights—including Super Bowl material—to members of the company’s News Partnership Network.

SendtoNews scored a similar deal with Nascar in February.

The NFL season opened yesterday. Highlights can be seen on the National Post, including a reference to Canadian football Joe Kapp’s fight that went viral on YouTube.

“We feel very fortunate to be the NFL’s exclusive distributor of digital highlights in Canada,” said SendtoNews CEO Greg Bobolo. “There is simply no more popular sport in North America than the NFL and no more premium sports brand than the NFL’s.”  

Last year, SendtoNews raised $3 million to roll out the digital sports video distribution network it uses for Nascar and the NFL.
