Shopify Named Innovator of the Year

The Canadian Innovation Exchange announced today that Shopify has been named CIX 2015 Innovator of the Year.

Shopify, which recently raised $131 million in its initial public offering and recently partnered with Amazon, allows merchants to connect with their customers online and in person with one e-platform. 175,000 active stores generate $10 billion in sales on Shopify’s platform.

Past recipients of the Innovator of the Year Award include Desire2Learn and Vision Critical.

“Shopify is one of the great Canadian corporate stories of the last decade. They’ve changed the playing field for retailers around the globe when it comes to commerce,” said John Ruffolo, CEO, OMERS Ventures and Co-Chair of CIX.

CIX will be hosting CIX Top 20 on November 17 at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto. The event will be showcasing 20 innovative and unique tech companies.
