Sony helps out U.S. customers after security breach, but Canadians will have to wait

Following a major security breach in Sony’s PlayStation network, the company’s president and CEO has offered American customers a one-year, $1-million identity theft insurance policy.

But Canadians will have to wait, as assistance to consumers out of the U.S. is vaguely “coming soon.”

The breach affected more than 100 million accounts since April 19, although it wasn’t made public until April 26. 10 million accounts may have compromised credit card data. Other compromised data included names, birth dates, email addresses, and login info.
