Spring has sprung at Waterloo’s VeloCity

Great piece titled Boot camp aimed at high-tech start-ups in Today’s Financial post about the VeloCity Program at the University of Waterloo.

Writer Karen Mazurkewich spends some time with Eric Migicovsky who is working on Allerta’s new inPulse watch that syncs to your BlackBerry and soft launches this month.

VeloCity also announced a handful of the Spring 2010 VeloCity Projects to give us a glimpse at what’s to come from VeloCity’s entrepreneurs.

Mapped In – Mapped In helps people navigate local areas, such as university campuses, malls, amusement parks, and conference centers. Users can stream up-to-date maps, plan trips, create and upload their own map, and synchronize locations with friends. As the world gets more complex, Mapped In keeps you going in the right direction – wherever you are!

ClassMate – ClassMate is a web-based application which aggregates all school-related information for students on a course-by-course basis.

LevelUp! – LevelUp! is an innovative and highly social Facebook game that allows users to compete in completing their goals. Players challenge each other or themselves to do things for experience points, leveraging social competition to make life more interesting.

Unbound – Unbound offers an easy, low cost monthly e-book subscription service that offers flexibility and convience. Based off your iPad Unbound allows you to download as many ebooks as you can read for one flat rate. Nothing unties you like Unbound!
