A new initiative, financed by the Canadian Government, is gearing up to bring lab-based research and development to the market. The money, $8.5 million Federal dollars, will be spent on Springboard, an Atlantic Canadian industry and commercialization network, designed to aid in those critical steps between the development and marketplace.
The Honorable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), made the announcement today at the Université de Moncton. “This investment will help to support the creation of new and improved products, streamline processes and develop a skilled workforce that can compete successfully in the global marketplace. Ultimately, it will generate economic growth and jobs creation here, for Atlantic Canadian workers and families, which is our priority.”
The money will be used in a wide variety of applications, from workshops to inter-institutional technology transfers, increasing industry interest to hosting networking events. An innovation mobilization program will also be created to support the development of technology, marketing initiatives, and engaging the community.
