TEC Edmonton’s new TEC Centre officially opened yesterday. Located on the fourth floor of Enterprise Square in downtown Edmonton, the TEC Centre is a lab and incubation facility for University of Alberta spinoff companies and other startups. Currently, ninety percent of the centre’s 46,000 square feet of lease space is occupied.
“Having this facility in Enterprise Square provides the ideal venue for university researchers and companies to benefit from innovation, collaboration and commercialization in the downtown business core,” said Lorne Babiuk, U of A vice- president of research and chair of TEC Edmonton’s Board of Directors.
The original TEC Centre was located on the University of Alberta campus, and was partially responsible for the creation of 73 different spinoff companies.
The TEC Centre offers tenants competitive rates with the option of monthly or yearly lease terms. High-speed Internet, video-conferencing, meeting rooms, a business centre, and access to networking and development events are just a few of the benefits offered to entrepreneurs who call the centre home.
